The Arrows Quilt Block is a fun and modern quilt block pattern that can be easily customized to suit your style and color preferences. In this tutorial, I will show you step-by-step how to make this block.
- Fabric in desired colors and prints
- Rotary cutter or scissors
- Cutting mat
- Sewing machine
Step 1: Cut the fabric pieces To make the Arrows Quilt Block, you will need to cut the following fabric pieces:
- Four (4) squares measuring 4 ½ inches in your main fabric
- Four (4) rectangles measuring 2 ½ inches by 4 ½ inches in a contrasting fabric
- Two (2) rectangles measuring 2 ½ inches by 8 ½ inches in the same contrasting fabric
Step 2: Sew the arrow units Take your four 2 ½ inch by 4 ½ inch rectangles and two 2 ½ inch by 8 ½ inch rectangles. Sew the rectangles together in pairs, with the shorter rectangles on top of the longer ones. Sew along the 4 ½ inch side of the rectangles, using a ¼ inch seam allowance. Press the seams open.
Step 3: Assemble the block Take two of the 4 ½ inch squares and place them right sides together. Sew along one side using a ¼ inch seam allowance. Press the seam open. Repeat this step with the remaining two squares.
Next, take one of the arrow units and place it on top of one of the sewn squares, with the shorter end of the arrow unit pointing towards the center of the square. Sew along the long edge of the arrow unit, using a ¼ inch seam allowance. Press the seam towards the arrow unit.
Repeat this step with the remaining arrow unit and square.
Finally, place the two pieces you have created right sides together, with the arrow units facing each other. Sew along both sides, using a ¼ inch seam allowance. Press the seams open.
Step 4: Finish the block Your Arrows Quilt Block is almost complete! Trim the block to 8 ½ inches square, making sure to keep the arrow units centered. Repeat steps 2-4 to create as many blocks as needed for your quilt.
Congratulations, you have successfully made the Arrows Quilt Block Pattern! With its modern and playful design, this block is sure to add a fun touch to any quilt project.
