Perhaps our greatest fears in love are tied up with that of rejection, or of our partners being unfaithful. These fears may torment us, and often as a result negatively affect our relationships as our torments transform into paranoia, suspicions, and isolation. These are all understandable attempts at self-preservation, to keep oneself from being vulnerable and hurt, but ultimately they result in also destroying everything. In matters of the spirit, we must remain resolute in God, faithful in His promise never to leave or abandon us. In matters of our Lord, we must keep our hearts free from fear, for in him we have found a lasting partner and merciful Father.
Psalm 27:10
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.
Prayer
Lord and Heavenly Father, whose house has many mansions, I pray for you to keep me from fear. Take my darkness, my insecurities and suspicions, and show them the light of your truth, which never leaves us. Strengthen my trust in your love. I ask this so I may be thy perfect partner and servant, blessed in everlasting love, Amen.
